Jean de La Grive, also known as Abbé de la Grive, was appointed the city's official cartographer by Turgot, Provost of Merchants. In his capacity as geographer, he engraved several maps of Paris and the surrounding area.
This print shows only the positions of steeples, castles, mills, main roads (differentiating between paved and unpaved), the sinuosities of rivers and the heights of hills.
This chalcography is a unique copy.
Available exclusively at the Louvre Shop by appointment.
