THE CARRACCI DRAWINGS
The birth of a masterpiece: the drawings of the Farnese Palace
The gallery painted by Annibale and Agostino Carracci in the early 1600s in the heart of the Farnese Palace is reborn at the Louvre. The exhibition "Drawings by the Carracci" recreates this legendary decor for the first time and presents a remarkable collection of preparatory drawings. In an immersive setting, visitors can also discover the Camerino, a small room given to Annibale Carracci as an exercise. These works reveal a unique artistic and human adventure: Annibale, a young painter fascinated by Rome, who met Odoardo Farnese, an illuminated patron. Two brothers and their Bolognese students, united by an exceptional project that would mark the history of Western painting.
