The exhibition and catalog Le Corps et l'Âme attempt to summarize the complex history of sculpture in Italy at the turn of the 1500s, through Aby Warburg's alternation between "Apollonian" ethos and "Dionysian" pathos. The accompanying study days, held in Paris and Milan, gave several art historians the opportunity to explore certain topics in greater depth.and led to the publication of this book.
The essays in this volume are in FRENCH, ITALIAN and ENGLISH.
