Ulysses of a Thousand Towers is a contemporary hero, shipwrecked and inventive, nostalgic for elsewhere and nostalgic for home. He is a Greek hero, of course, who chooses to be mortal, to have a name, to be a relatable self, to invent a winning discourse, and to be recognized.
The words of the Odyssey are put before our eyes by the vases that write in the Louvre, Campana gallery, a graphic novel. We then understand what a pagan world is, and how Homer, the Bible or science do not tyrannize us in the same way.
At the end of these conferences of La Chaire du Louvre, I thought I saw how we were Greek.
