All the Louvre - The masterpieces, the history of the palace, the architecture

Beaux Arts éditions co-published with Les éditions du Louvre a historical guide to the Louvre, lively and accessible, intended for a wide audience.

The first part of the guide presents the history of the Louvre, the stages of its construction, its role in the heart of Paris, the royal residence. The second part is devoted to the architecture of the Louvre and its successive transformations. The third part of the guide will present the 120 main masterpieces on display at the museum; what we know about their design, their sponsors, the circumstances of their achievements. For the first time, the circumstances under which these works became the property of the Louvre will be revealed.

Finally, a commented photographic report reviews the most beautiful rooms in the Louvre, the oldest ones as well as those that have just been renovated, and highlights what is essential to see during a visit to the Louvre.
