Takashi Kamoda, the naive and falot manager of a small rubber goods factory, was placed in escrow for tax evasion.
He loses his business and his wife leaves him. With the accumulated debts, he remains alone with his daughter, and growing despair. On the verge of giving in to the irreparable, he finds on his way a strange "sign of dreams", sent by Iyami, a mysterious dandy with an affable smile, who claims to be a friend of Sylvie Vartan and François Mitterrand, and who wants to give him a mission that will lead him to... Paris, at the Louvre Museum!
He accepts, against his daughter's advice, forced to follow him in the adventure. Here they are embarked on a series of improbable schemes around the Dentellière, Vermeer's masterpiece, in the maze of the Louvre.
