A modern invention with an ancient heritage. As the Olympic and Paralympic Games return to Paris for the third time in 2024, the Musée du Louvre is offering visitors the opportunity to explore the creation of the first Olympic Games and its iconographic sources at the end of the 19th century, to understand the political context and what motivated its organisers to reinvent the competitions of ancient Greece.

This line of jewellery is inspired by the frieze of palmettes visible on a Calpis kept in the Louvre Museum.
The palmette motif is a classic ornament in the ancient Greek repertory.

Inspiration :
Calpis, Athens, 490 BC / 480 BC (1st quarter of the 5th century BC) Discovered in Vulci (Canino, Italy) in 1829.
