Jean-Michel Othoniel

In 2019, the Louvre museum invited Jean-Michel Othoniel to produce an original creation inspired by a detail from a painting by Rubens. The artist chose a flower that could be seen to symbolise the world's largest museum. This rose, queen of flowers, symbol of passion and power, learning and sensuality, became the flower of the Louvre for Jean Michel Othoniel, who named it La Rose du Louvre.

La Rose du Louvre joined the museum's collections in 2020.

An exclusive new product line was created around this work. The pure and graphic lines of these creations convey the strength of the calligraphic gesture that animates the artist's graphic works, bringing colour to everyday life through art and floral poetry.
