This beautiful book shows and reads a world-famous painting, The Triptych of the Virgin in Glory of the « Master of Moulins », Jean Hey, one of the greatest painters of his time. A recent restoration has restored all the brightness of this major work of the late Middle Ages.
The Virgin in Glory is surrounded by the sponsors of the painting, who were "regents" of the kingdom of France : Peter II of Bourbon, surmounted by St. Peter, and his wife Anne of France, followed by their daughter Suzanne, under the protection of Saint Anne. Painted around 1498-1502, the triptych testifies to the sacral and political claims of the powerful house of Bourbon, then threatened in its assizes by royalty.
