WRITTEN IN FRENCH
In a sphere barely 6 cm in diameter, an anonymous artist sculpted, at the beginning of the 16th century, a whole world, and even "the end of the world" and the beginning of the new one: The Last Judgement.
This extraordinary miniaturisation is a breathtaking response to the grandeur of the subject. It took fervent faith and prodigious skill to achieve this artistic and technical miracle. One can only admire this marvel and lose oneself with delight in these tiny scenes, so vivid and evocative, which one can hardly imagine the patience and genius it took to create. It is as if the sculptures in the porch of Notre-Dame de Paris or Chartres Cathedral were all in one big walnut!
