Pyramid Collection
Designed by Sam Baron for the Musée du Louvre
French designer Sam Baron has chosen to pay homage to the Chinese-American architect I. M. Pei, who designed the glass pyramid in the 1980s to contrast with the aesthetic of the Cour Napoléon of the Louvre Palace. The Pyramid is reflected and inverted inside the museum, creating a unique geometric pattern that has been transformed into a graphic motif and applied to the various objects in the collection.
Sam Baron places his work in the context of our everyday lives, anchoring his creations in functional and artistic research in combination with cultural and historical narratives. In addition to the various international museums and galleries where his work is exhibited, he has received the Grand Prix de la Ville de Paris and was singled out by Philippe Starck in 2010 as one of the most important designers of the decade.
