Engraving The Rose of the Louvre - Jean-Michel Othoniel

The Rose du Louvre, an original creation by Jean-Michel Othoniel for the 30th anniversary of the Pyramid, joined the museum's collections in 2020.
In the same year, the Louvre Museum and the Rmn-Grand Palais commissioned the artist to create an engraved plate for the Chalcographie collection.

It is this original plate that is used in the studio to carefully print each print marked with the artist's name.

With this print, the artist highlights the importance of drawing and editing in his work. This black rose on a white background, or on a silver background in its limited edition, shows the strength of the calligraphic gesture that animates Jean-Michel Othoniel's works on paper.
