The Mambolisa is a bridge between two eras, a round trip in time, a meeting between two styles but also two eras, two societies so different. Life has changed, art has changed, women have changed. The mysteries surrounding this portrait are also evolving: why did the Mona Lisa lose her smile? Why does she now look so jaded
I like to think Monalisa has being living and witnessing every minute of her life as an artwork as if she was a person: she's been thru so much over centuries of traveling, millions of visitors, being stolen and so on... that she's completely blasée at this moment in time, nothing surprises her anymore. I also like to hide her famous smile and focus on her look, just to observe her from a different angle, and despite all the sayings about her, and therefore give a contemporary vision of this iconic lady we all love. - Mambo
